The Chacma Baboon (Papio cynocephalus ursinus) is widespread in South Africa and as long as food, water, and suitable sleeping places are available they can live almost anywhere. The average size of a troop is about 40 and individuals live for 20-30 years. Females stay with the troop they were born into whilst mature males may move from troop to troop. Females inherit the ranking of the mother.
